Sviluppato dal | Piaggio P180 Avanti |
The P.1HH is a remotely piloted aircraft developed starting from the fuselage of the Piaggio P180 and its characteristics mean that the aircraft falls into the MALE category (medium altitude, long endurance): it reaches an altitude of 13,700 metres with a flight time of over 16 hours. Like the P.180, the P.1HH is characterised by pusher propellers which give it a particularly high-pitched sound signature. Furthermore, thanks to this "descent", the P.1HH is able to reach particularly high speeds. The P.180 Avanti II platform has been redesigned with a new aerodynamic configuration, a higher load capacity and greater wing extension. The external section of the wings is removable to allow the aircraft to be transported, thus making it possible to use it in any scenario.
The mission is managed by a ground station connected through control systems, including satellite systems, which allow remote control of the navigation and mission systems.
Piaggio Aerospace will build the P.1HH in partnership with Selex ES . The Finmeccanica company will supply the flight control and navigation systems for the unmanned aircraft and the skyISTAR mission, which integrates the SeaSpray 7300E R radar, the communication interface and data link. The P.2HH is being developed as a derivative of the P.1HH, with a larger wingspan and greater flight endurance.
